A huge thanks to everyone who made it out to High Times' Medical Cannabis Cup. It was a rewarding event for the Green Door: A patient favorite, Candy Jack, took home second place in the sativa category. In addition, our booth placed second, in a tie with Cmaz Glass, for Best Expo Booth. (See the slideshow at SF Weekly.) This makes the Green Door the only dispensary to place in two categories--as well as the only San Francisco dispensary to be recognized. See the full list of results here.

Support for the event was so overwhelming that the Cup was pretty crowded at times. High Times is well aware that long lines and little space detracted from the experience for some attendees, and they are welcoming feedback at medcancup@hightimes.com so that they will be able "to provide an even more satisfying experience next year."

Collective Wellness of California announces new cannabis testing technology

Using state of the art equipment, scientists at Collective Wellness of California (CWC) can now detect active ingredients in the medical Cannabis at the parts-per-million level in samples of bud, hashish, oils, and edibles. CWC is also screening for contaminants and impurities in these products, like pesticides and herbicides.

Scientists at CWC have been working for months behind closed doors to ensure that the process will deliver quality information to patients who rely on clean, medicinal marijuana. With the process perfected, CWC is launching their findings at San Francisco's premier dispensary, the Green Door, which will be reporting the potency of the cannabinoids THC, CBD, and CBN in all of their medicinal marijuana.

"We have tested a number of the medicinal products at the Green Door, and, to date, we have not found any residues to cause alarm," says Dr. John Oram, deputy director of CWC. "We attribute these encouraging findings to the high quality of visual inspections that the Green Door is already performing on their products."

CWC has found extremely low levels of some personal care products in a few products, namely hand lotion and patchouli oil, substances that likely came from a bud handler's hand. Though these substances do not pose a threat, they are testimony to the extreme sensitivity of CWC's analytical procedures.

"We believe the patient deserves to be informed," says Oram, adding, "The Green Door's willingness to have their products tested first demonstrates their ongoing commitment to safe and reliable access for patients."

This sentiment is echoed by Mike Nolin, president of the Green Door: "We are very excited about partnering with CWC. We have always sought to provide our patients with reliable standards, and CWC's terrific engineers have made this goal possible. This will greatly benefit our patients, and, eventually, all cannabis patients."

With the process launched, CWC is now offering their services to other dispensaries, as well as farmers, and other industry clients. CWC is also working on a line of innovative food products that will undergo the same rigorous testing for residues and potency, and be labeled accordingly.

Potency Testing

CWC offers scientifically defensible quantification of THC, CBD, CBN in flowers, edibles and extracts.

Residue Screening

CWC offers scientifically defensible, broad-scan identification of chemical residues (e.g., pesticides, herbicides, fungicides) in flowers, edibles and extracts.

Microbiological Screening (Coming Soon)

CWC offers scientifically defensible identification of biological agents (e.g., molds, fungi, bacteria) in flowers, edibles and extracts.

Label Development

CWC offers expert consultation on developing labels for various Cannabis products. Labels will include all appropriate disclosures (e.g., lab results, ingredients, caloric content, etc.).

Establishment of 'Best Practices'

CWC offers expert consultation on establishing best practices for cultivation, storage, packaging, and edible production.
